Tai Jji Quan or, Tai Chi, combines martial arts movements with Qi (energy) circulation, breathing, and stretching techniques. It utilizes the ancient philosophy of Yin-Yang and the Five Element theories as its foundation in establishing its training principles. Qi circulation was initially used for the purpose of increasing the internal strength of the physical body for combat. The same techniques that were capable of developing internal power for combat also proved to be effective in healing and rejuvenating exercises and thus prolonging life. These health benefits were the primary contributions that have led to the increasing popularity of Tai Ji Quan today. In today's hectic world, many people often seem to be “too busy? to be concerned about our health until it becomes a problem. Modern medicine has found treatments for many common diseases, though unfortunately, there are a number that are still incurable. Many times, the root of the sickness cannot be corrected so it reoccurs or manifests itself in other forms. A great value of Tai Ji Quan lies in its potential to strengthen and repair the physical and energetic body, which in turn has the potential to prevent and cure diseases. With Tai Ji Quan, it is possible to keep blood and energy circulation smooth in the entire body and prevent disease. Traditional Chinese medical theory holds prevention in the highest esteem, focusing on correcting a problem before any symptoms occur. If a problem exists, it can be tempered through the regular practice of Tai Ji Quan before it causes any major damage. If the problem is already causing damage, then more drastic measures may need to be taken in order to repair the damage. Once repaired, the non-jarring, deliberate, and integrated movements of Tai Ji Quan serve as an excellent recovery exercise for regaining health and stability. In addition to controlled motions Tai Ji leads to improved awareness of the different parts of the body, Better functioning of the central nervous system, and complete physical coordination and natural breathing, Tai Ji also promotes tranquility, stress deduction and improved concentration. Since all movements are performed in an integrated fashion, the practice of Tai Ji. | ||||||||||
